John Lennon Music

^Greatest song ever written

John Lennon and The Beatles

Today is December 8th,2009, meaning that 29 years ago today the world lost arguably the greatest musician it's ever know(Probably the only people who can argue are fans of Paul McCartney.),  John Lennon. Lennon who was the original founder of the greatest musical group of all-time, the Beatles. The band broke up in 1970, 40 years ago, yet they still remain the most popular artists today. Their album 'ONE' is the highest selling album of the last decade released in 2000, and the Beatles are about to overtake Eminem for the high selling artists from 2000-2010. 40 years ago they broke up, yet they still outsell every artist who has come out since them, this should tell you the impact that this band had, specifically Lennon. The music they put out today is computerized garbage and it's not hard to make the 'sick beats' that everyone seems to love. Now there are a few artists out there who the Beatles would be proud of, musicians who have a message like Lupe Fiasco, and not people like 50 Cent or Lil Wayne who rap about, well, nothing. It's amazing how the world has changed musically, from the Beatles singing about love and world peace to Lil Wayne talking about killing people.

Lil Wayne has sold 5.5 million albums total, Hey Jude, one song by the Beatles, sold 4 million copies, if you think Lil Wayne is 'huge' i suggest you find a new definition for the word because huge is what the Beatles are. 5.5 million records sold, including mixtapes, and he's huge. Well lets just say that one of the Beatles albums, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, sold around uhh, 40 million albums. All in all, the Beatles have sold 1 BILLION 6 million records, thats a little more. It's easy for me to say they sold more albums because they've been around longer, well from 1966(the year Sgt.Pepper came out) to 1971(right after they broke up) the beatles released 5 albums which sold 545 million records, so Lil Wayne fans please, he may be somehwhat popular today, but its time to get some perspective on what 'huge' really is.

Lennon is the most popular Beatle, most people today know Paul McCartney because he is still touring the world, but from 1963-1980, John Lennon was the most popular person in the world, "Bigger than Jesus" as some may say. Lennon once had 500,000 people marching in the streets of New York City, saying one simple message that was heard around the world, "Give Peace a Chance." It's time for the world to reconnect with Lennon and realize how important he is to people. Most older people know, as they gather in New York City at his memorial called Strawberry Fields and circle around the monument that simply reads, "Imagine".

Mainstream rap is killing the message left by the Beatles, the message that 'All You Need Is Love'. If you think of the Beatles songs as 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand', or 'She Loves You', I suggest you do some more research and discover how complicated and meaningful the Beatles got from 1966 when they released Sgt.Pepper (Voted greatest album of all-time). They were so diverse and complicated they couldn't do live concerts because there was no way they could play all the instruments.  The trippy druggy music started a revolution in the 1960's, they started the peace movement that you see on TV, if there were no Beatles, Jimi Hendrix would never had experimented as much as he did, Michael Jackson would never have had the courage to dance like he did, hip-hop would never have born, modern country music would never have gotten started, rock music would be what you hear in the 50's. Brian Wilson, producer of the Beach Boys said, "The Beatles came and changed everything, if people like music today, they need to go back and pay homage to the fab four, they changed everything."

The media has it right, they are trying to reintroduce the Beatles to todays generation, and they are trying to offset the violence we see in mainstream hip-hop and it's actually working. Beatles Rockband introduced the video game generation to their music in a whole new way. The remastered albums came out and many people will recieve them as gifts, which will most likely push the beatles ahead of Eminem as the most successful artists of this decade.

John Lennon died 29 years ago today, it shocked the world, the only time all traffic in New York City stopped dead all at once was the day after he died and everyone was asked to stop what they were doing and give Lennon 2 minutes of silence, the entire world stopped, New York to LA to Miami to London to Paris, the world stopped dead on December 9th, 1980 for two whole minutes to pay tribute to John Lennon. He lives on through songs like 'All You Need Is Love' and 'Imagine'. If you read this I encourage everyone to type in Sgt.Pepper's, or the White album, or the Abbey Road albums and listen to their songs, they're not for everyone, but their music has a message, a message of peace, and the world needs to hear it again.

Heisman rankings week 6

1. Tony Pike-QB Cincinnati, Tim Tebow-QB Florida..Tebow didn't do much to help UF beat LSU, but they did win, Pike was off last week
2. Colt McCoy-QB Texas..Texas' defense is why they struggled against Colorado, McCoy is still a very strong Heisman hopeful
3. Jacory Harris-QB Miami..He keeps winning with the toughest schedule in the country
4. Jimmy Clausen-QB Notre Dame..Keeps throwing touchdowns, he's doing all he can to stay in the discussion

Not much has changed, Cincy was off last week so I'm thinking next week Pike has a big week and will be back to number one by himself.

NFL Power Rankings Week 4

1.(1)      New Orleans Saints      (4-0)
New Orleans solidified itself as the NFL's best team by defeating the   previously unbeaten New York Jets.

  2.(8)      Indianapolis Colts      (4-0)
Indy had looked unstoppable after the first four weeks of the season. Pierre Garcon is emerging as a go to target for Peyton.

 3.(4)      New England Patriots      (3-1)
New England probably shouldn't have won against Baltimore, but a win is a win and they have bounced back from that emotional loss to the New York Jets beautifully.

 4.(7)     Minnesota Vikings      (4-0)
Obviously Favre was going to beat his former team on Monday night, but in the process they showed they can win a game where AP is shut down, was Favre just that good because it was against the Packers or are the Vikings for real?

5.(3)      Baltimore Ravens      (3-1)
Besides Drew Brees the other early MVP candidate has been Joe Flacco. He's looked phenomenal and if his receivers could catch his passes they may be undefeated.

6.(6)      New York Giants      (4-0)
Undefeated but they have the easiest schedule in the NFL. They just don't have to body of work the teams in front of them do.

7.(2)      New York Jets      (3-1)
Tough loss last week for New York and that makes them slide. depending on if Sanchez can bounce back I still think they are the most talented team in the AFC East.

8.(5)      Atlanta Falcons      (2-1)
Corey's favorite team (R.I.P. my man) The bye week hurt them because so many other teams did well around them, look for them to make a statement next weekend though.

9.(10)      Philadelphia Eagles      (2-1)
Philly also had a bye week but next weekend McNabb and Westbrook return and I'm predicting Mike Vick's first touchdown as an Eagle.

11.(14)      Denver Broncos      (4-0)
They are undefeated, Josh McDaniels apparently knows what he's doing getting rid of Jay Cutler. Still another team however I'm not yet sold on as a contender.

11.(11)      Cincinnati Bengals      (3-1)
Fluke play is what kept them from being 4-0, however im still not  convinced for some reason.

12.(13)      Pittsburgh Steelers      (2-2)
Rashard Mendenhall looked great for the defending champs last week, but they're still 2-2 with the tie-breaking game going to the Bengals.

13.(15)      San Francisco 49'ers      (3-1)
Best team in their divison and they finally signed Crabtree. He won't be a factor for a few weeks but he could cause some match-up problems late in the season.

14.(12)      Green Bay Packers      (2-2)
They lost an unwinnable game against Favre and the Vike's on Monday night in Minnesota. The offensive line was atrocious but Rodgers threw for almost 400 yards. They got great news the day after the game when they signed 9 year pro-bowl vet Mark Tauscher and pro-bowl tackle Chad Clifton was cleared to play after the bye.

15.(17)      Chicago Bears      (3-1)
The only good defense they've faced, Cutler threw 3 int's to them. They play Atlanta this week and if they win they'll jump a few spots.

16.(9)      San Diego Chargers      (2-2)
This weeks biggest drop, the Chargers look great on paper, but do not look good in games, especially with LT being hampered by that ankle.

17.(21)      Houston Texans      (2-2)
Houston is showing improvements in almost all areas. The offense is explosive and they could upset a lot of teams that overlook them late in the season.

18.(18)      Arizona Cardinals      (1-2)
Not much to say, they were off last week so they stay in the same spot as las week. As I said last week, they will not go anywhere unless they protect Warner better, as of right now they are no where near a playoff team.

19.(19)      Seattle Seahawks      (1-3)
Can't tell if this team is decent or if they are a joke again, they need Hasselbeck back in the worst way.

20.(23)      Miami Dolphins      (1-3)
They got their first win against the lowly Bills last week, Chad Henne looked good but they have to play the Jets this week, a much bigger test for the second year QB.

21.(16)      Dallas Cowboys      (1-3)
Romo looks bad and so does everything about this team except the running game. They are no where near the Eagles or Giants in the NFC East.

22.(24)      Jacksonville Jaguars      (2-2)
They killed Tennessee last week, but Tennessee is very bad this year so I'm not sure if they team is really improving or just played a team that was a lot worse than them.

23.(29)      Cleveland Browns      (0-4)
Moved up because everyone around them lost badly while they put up a good fight against Cincinnati, also getting rid of a distraction in Edwards will help.

24.(22)      Carolina Panthers      (0-3)
They were off last week and hopefully John Fox was able to change some things around to get this ship turned the right way. I still think they're a good team, it hurts that they play in the same division as New Orleans and Atlanta.

25.(28)      Washington Redskins      (2-2)
They won against the worst team in the NFL in my opinion, and they didn't win pretty, but they do have two wins.

26.(20)      Tennessee Titans      (0-4)
Pre-season Superbowl contender, now 0-4. Something needs to change but I don't think it's benching Kerry Collins for Vince Young, the problem is on defense.

27.(26)      Oakland Raiders      (1-3)
For some reason. even though Jamarcus Russel can't hit a receiver in stride to save his life, I think this team should be a lot better than they are, I don't know why, I just thought they'd be competing better.

28.(25)      Buffalo Bills      (1-3)
The first three quarters of this season looked promising, since then they have looked like..well..the Buffalo Bills, which does not bode well for loud mouth TO and company, expect a four or five win season.

29.(27)      Detroit Lions      (1-3)
They beat the Redskins to end the streak and they looked good against Chicago until Stafford was injured, and he looks like he may miss some time.

30.(31)      Kansas City Chiefs      (0-4)
They are paying Cassell a lot of money and they shouldn't be, the guy is not an NFL quarterback, let alone a franchise quarterback worth the money they are paying him.

31.(30)      St. Louis Rams      (0-4)
They have no hope for this season in St. Louis, they have lost 15 straight games dating back to last year, the record is 21, they could get there.

32.(32)      Tampa Bay Buccaneers      (0-4)
They showed some promise against the Redskins, but not much. They will not be the worst team in the NFL when the seasons over but for right now, they are in last place.

Player of the weekVikings Quarterback Brett Favre
Most impressive win: Vikings over Packers
Game of the week: Cincinnati Vs. Cleveland
Worst PerformanceTennesse Vs. Jacksonville

Predictions:
Week Four game of the week: New England Vs. Denver(Interesting to see if Denver is for real.)
Player of the week: Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson

Packers coaching

MIke McCarthy is a bad coach, I have never liked him. He spreads the field, which is fine, but when your QB is laying on the ground on every play its time to change things up. A lot of people in the country think Aaron Rodgers is the best QB talent wise in the NFL right now. He has all the tools to be an MVP type player except he has no protection. They gave up 5 sacks to the Bengals, that should have been a wake up call. They need to keep Finley and Lee in tight in their formations, I'm baffled that hasn't happened already. This could be the most explosive offense in the NFL next to NO if they had some time to get the ball down the field. Rodgers has no time to get it to Jennings and Driver, let alone the tight ends, so stay in and protect him, and if you're in the gun, they have a package where the tight end lines up off center in front of Rodgers.

Now on to the defense. We have 3 pro-bowlers in our secondary, Nick Collins, Al Harris, and Charles Woodsen who was the NFL's defensive player of the month in September. They are arguably the best secondary in the NFL, so tell me why they keep getting burned?

  • The line backers are terrible, Nick Barnett has lost a step and AJ Hawk is overrated. Brandon Chillar is our best LB
  • Aaron F*****g Kampman is playing OLB, the guy has had double digit sacks the last 4 years and is a perennial pro-bowl pass rusher and you have him dropping 20 yards into coverage.
  • The DT's are huge, and by huge I mean the biggest in the NFL, Jenkins, Jolly, and Raji are all 370+. This is great for clogging holes and stopping the run, but against the pass, they are just too slow to get to QB's. They play a 3-4, meaning 3 down lineman and 4 line backers. If they don't blitz, which they rarely do, they only rush three people and they have to go against 5 offensive linemen plus running backs and tight ends who may stay in. They are not fast enough to get anywhere. What's the answer? Hmmm I don't know maybe put one of the best speed pass rushers in the NFL back on the line and let him do what he was drafted for, sack the QB.
Mike McCarthy had better figure this thing out in the bye week because with good coaching this team is a playoff team no doubt. They have so many weapons, they just need to get their scheme right and get better play from the line backers.

People will think I'm disappointed with the Vikings winning last night, but in reality, in happy with how the team fought. They had no pass rush all and the offensive line is so hurt, that the backup center was playing LT and blocking Jared Allen, that's never gonna go well and they should have lost by 30. Rodgers was sacked 8 times and still managed to throw for almost 400 yards and 2 TD's (should have been 3 but Lee dropped a TD on fourth down) This team is so close to breaking out and being a contender, they have to change things around this week though, or they will lose a lot of the locker room, Rodgers will end up in the hospital after being sacked 700 times, and we will end up with 6 wins again.

Heisman rankings week 5

Everyone was off this week so not much movement except for the top spot

1. Tony Pike,-QB Cincinnati..Don't know how people could argue he's been amazing.
2. Tim Tebow-QB Florida, Colt McCoy-QB Texas..Both off this week, both less than stellar this season.
3. Jimmy Clauson-QB Notre Dame..Keeps throwing touchdown after touchdown, one more loss and he's gone though.
4. Jacory Harris-QB Miami..Back in the running after beating Oklahoma.

T.O.

I have a real problem with Terrell Owens saying the media has always twisted his comments into things to make headlines and make him look bad. That is the most outrageous thing Owens has ever said. Was it the media that called Jeff Garcia gay? Was it the media that made him stand on the cowboys star? Was it the media that made him say he'd rather have Brett Favre as quarterback than Donovan McNabb? How about when he was banned from the Eagles facility and did crunches in his drive-way in front of a hundred reporters for "practice"? Or maybe it was when he overdosed on pills? Was it the medias fault when he cried at a press conference because the media was too hard on Romo then told the same media that he believed Romo and Jason Witten were conspiring against him and making sure he wouldn't get the ball? Or more recently, was it the medias fault when he called out Rodney Harrison for his 'steroid' use. HGH is not a steroid and while Harrison is wrong for taking it, TO of all people is in no position to question his, or anyones character.

TO, you're an idiot, you can never admit you're wrong and what those reporters did in Buffalo wasn't wrong, they were asking fair questions that they asked to the coach and to Trent Edwards and Lee Evans. Just because you've been stupid enough to say those things over the years does not mean the media is out to get you, you do that all on your own. You love the attention and now you realize you're washed up and that why Dallas got rid of you and this is your new way of trying to take the blame off yourself.

Lupe Fiasco

Finally the release date is set. December 15th, 2009 We Are Lasers will hit stores and i won't play another artist on my ipod for probably 6 or 7 months like when the Cool came out. Lupe has released one single in two years leading me to believe that this will be the best album I've ever heard, no offense to Kanye's graduation, but that will now be in second place. I love Kanye but he's definitely a pop artist now and it will be soooooooooo..soooooooo good to get some really really deep music that I've missed for the past two years.

FNF UP!

Updated Heisman rankings after week 4

After Best's awful game against Oregon and Harris' less than stellar performance against VT, I had a 3 way tie for the top spot

1. Tim Tebow*-QB Florida, Colt McCoy-QB Texas, Tony Pike-QB Cincinnati
2. Jahvid Best-RB Cal
3. Case Keenum-QB Houston
4. Jimmy Clauson-QB Notre Dame

*Suffered a concussion last week in third quarter versus Kentucky

My NFL power rankings after week 3

1. New Orleans Saints (3-0)
Drew Brees has been amazing but they also showed they can win by running the ball and playing solid defense last weekend.

2. New York Jets (3-0)
Another win for the rookie head coach and rookie quarterback, they're undefeated and they haven't been playing cupcakes.

3Baltimore Ravens (3-0)
Looked shaky in week one against the chiefs but have bounced back and have been putting up big numbers, and not just on defense.

4New England Patriots (2-1)
People were saying it was the end of a dynasty, but they bounced back in a big way against super-bowl contender Atlanta.

 5. Atlanta Falcons (2-1)
Their offense is amazing when its working but they need to be more consistent if they want a legit shot to compete for the super-bowl.

6. New York Giants (3-0)
Their win over Tampa doesn't prove anything, bad competition so far leads to them being out of the top five.

7Minnesota Vikings (3-0)
As much as it hurts me personally Favre has looked very good, however, that last play was very lucky, he plays his former team on Monday night next week.

8Indianapolis Colts (3-0)
Two weeks ago they held the ball for 1/4 the time as Miami did and still won, this week Manning picked apart the defending NFC champs from start to finish.

9San Diego Chargers (2-1)
LT being out hasnt hurt the team in a big way so far, we'll see what the rest of the season brings for LT and the Chargers.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (2-1)
Their only loss was to Drew Brees and the Saints, but it was a bad loss. Kolb has been solid replacing McNabb who may be back after the bye week. Also watch out for Mike Vick in the next game.

11.Cincinnati Bengals (2-1)
Should be 3-0 but a fluke play against Denver gave them a week one loss, but after a win at Pittsburgh last week Cincy may be back.

12. Green Bay Packers (2-1)
Everyone knows they're my favorite team so I'll keep it short, Rodgers looks good with little protection, however it was the Rams. This week they play Brett Favre on Monday night.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2)
Polamualu is out but that is no excuse for dropping touchdowns and missing field goals.

14. Denver Broncos (3-0)
Should be 2-1 but that fluke play versus Cincinnati makes them undefeated, interesting team after the offseason turmoil.

15. San Francisco 49'ers (2-1)
One first down away from being undefeated and making Minnesota 2-1. Frank Gore is out a few weeks, that could hurt this team in the short term but I think they'll win the division.

16. Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
Good win for the cowboys against Carolina, however that type of game won't beat any team ranked ahead of them.

17. Chicago Bears (2-1)
Cutler threw four interceptions against the Packers in week one but has bounced back.

18. Arizona Cardinals (1-2)
Kurt Warner looked awful against the Colts, part of it was protection. He can't move in the pocket, he's an old man now, they need better protection.

 19. Seattle Seahawks (1-2)
Jim Mora called out Olino Mare in a big way, and he's right, if they make those kicks they easily beat the Bears and are looking at 2-1.

 20. Tennessee Titans (0-3)
I don't know what is wrong with the team who boasted last years best regular season record. It's almost impossible to make the playoffs after starting 0-3, especially with Indy playing so good.

21. Houston Texans (1-2)
Great offense, horrible defense, if they can get their secondary going this is a sleeper team.

22. Carolina Panthers (0-3)
Another team who was one game from clinching home field advantage in the NFC last year is winless to start the 2009 season. Last night against the cowboys the offense looked great in the first half, but in the second half they went 5 possessions without a first down, not going to cut it.

23. Miami Dolphins (0-3)
The most surprising team from last year looks bad, and now with their best player out for the season, it may be a long year for the Dolphins.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2)
People are starting to call for Del Rio's head in Jacksonville, if he doesn't turn the season around this could be his last year.

25. Buffalo Bills (1-2)
Through 97% of week one people were saying Buffalo was the real deal, however they lost that game to New England, and they haven't looked good at all. TO had no catches last week, is this the end for Trent Edwards?

26. Oakland Raiders (1-2)
They chose Jamarcus Russel over Jeff Garcia, that move is not working so far.

27. Detroit Lions (1-2)
They won a game, and they looked good doing it, for once they are not the worst team in the NFL.

28. Washington Redskins (1-2)
They lost to Detroit, enough said.

29. Cleveland Browns (0-3)
Brady Quinn was benched last week, this team has nothing going for it at any position outside of kick returner.

30. St.Louis Rams (0-3)
They showed promise against Green Bay, but Bulger hurt his shoulder and Kyle Boller is not the answer.

31. Kansas City Chiefs (0-3)
Matt Cassel benefitted from throwing to Randy Moss and Wes Welker last year, no one of that caliber on this team.

32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3)
They're just flat out bad, benching the only player having a decent season isn't going to help them

Player of the week: Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco
Most impressive win: Has to be Lions over the Redskins
Game of the week: tie between Cincy-Pitt and Minnesota-San Fran
Worst Performance: Washington losing to Detroit

Predictions:
Week Four game of the week: Green Bay @ Minnesota on Monday Night Football
Player of the week: either Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre, whoever ends up winning that game.
